BioKisame is a former member of the Hidden Mist Village's Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, a group of ninja that distinguish themselves by wielding particularly large weapons in battle. While in the Hidden Mist Village, Kisame formed some kind of connection to Suigetsu Hozuki (who is currently traveling with Sasuke Uchiha’s group called Snake) and his brother. Because they originate from the same village, Kisame is also somewhat acquainted with Zabuza Momochi, though the extent of their relationship is presently unknown. The Land of Water now seeks Kisame because of his role in plotting to overthrow the government of that country, and also because he was involved in numerous assassinations.
Sometime after his defection from the Hidden Mist Village, Kisame joined the Akatsuki and become partnered with Itachi Uchiha. Despite being an S-class criminal and carrying the same reputation as the other wanted Akatsuki members, Kisame is startlingly polite in his manner of speech in comparison to his comrades, usually addressing his opponents by their full name at first encounter. He isn’t shy at all about openly stating the strength of his enemies, even going as far as expressing comments that somewhat resemble compliments right in their presence, even though he doesn’t seem to be fazed by a foe that is presumably stronger than him. Kisame does seem to be a little reckless at times in the fact that he really likes to fight, and he’s very likely to rush into battle to show off his strength, but he would back down if Itachi commanded him to.
